Dysport|Botox Pre & Post Care

BOTOX/DYSPORT PRE-TREATMENT

  • Do NOT consume alcoholic beverages at least 24-48 hours prior to treatment (alcohol may thin the blood and increase the risk of bruising)

  • Schedule your Botox appointment at least 2 weeks prior to a special event which you may be attending, such as a wedding or a vacation. The effects of the Botox and Dermal Filler injections will take roughly 14 days to manifest. During that time, bruising and swelling might also be visible. Planning ahead with your provider is advised. If at all possible, refrain from taking anti-inflammatory or blood-thinning medications for two weeks prior to therapy. Aspirin, vitamin E, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, St. John's Wort, Omega 3/Fish Oil supplements, Ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, Aleve, and other NSAIDS have a thinning impact on the blood and can increase the risk of bruising and swelling after injections.

  • Stop the use of Retin-A 2 days before and 2 days after treatment.

  • You are not a candidate if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

  • Reschedule your appointment at least 24 hours in advance if you have a rash, cold sore or blemish on the area.

  • Please inform your doctor if you have ever had cold sores so they can consider starting you on antiviral medicine before starting your treatment.

  • Be sure to have a good breakfast, including food and drink before your procedure. This will decrease the chances of lightheadedness during your treatment.

BOTOX/DYSPORT POST TREATMENT

  • For the remainder of the day after treatment, avoid touching the treated region. After receiving Botox injections, wait at least 14 days before getting microdermabrasion, laser, or facial procedures. If you are unsure of the duration of a particular service, ask your supplier.

  • Results can be seen anywhere between 4 and 7 days after treatment, up to 14 days. You might need more Botox if the intended result is not visible after two weeks of treatment. The quantity of the substance used determines the price.

  • Do NOT lie down for 4 hours after your Botox treatment. This will prevent the Botox from tracking into the orbit of your eye and causing a drooping eyelid.

  • Do NOT perform activities involving straining, heavy lifting, or vigorous exercise for 24 hours after treatment. This will keep the Botox in the injected area and not elsewhere.
